Just four years ago, the thought of being a senior seemed so out of reach. The idea that one day, I too would be getting ready to graduate and leave for college in a couple months seemed inconceivable. Yet, after all the memories, all the late nights on school trips, hours writing candy grams, and naps during track meets—suddenly, we finished.
Admittedly, I am scared; Excited, but scared, and nervous, and relieved, and sad, and a plethora of mixed emotions as we move into this new chapter of our lives. Throughout the past four years, we have made millions of small decisions that have ultimately brought each of us here. Some good, and some bad. I know that I’ve had my fair share of both. The most terrifying, or maybe the most human, part is that any decision could be life-changing, and we just don’t know it. There is so much that we don’t know, especially when it comes to these next couple of months. Luckily for us, the unknown is nothing new.
The class of ’24 has always been good at adapting. Each year of highschool unlike the one before. Even in middle school; those who went to Bala Cynwyd will remember how we had a new principal each year. Whether it was COVID safety rules or LM traditions that we had no experience with, we were constantly confronted with the unexpected.
But no matter what new obstacle came our way, we always persevered. We made it to the end, and for that, I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of you. The world beyond high school is full of unknowns and unexpecteds – too many for a few paragraphs to cover. That being said, my one and only piece of advice, that I hope you all follow, is this: protect your skin and wear some sunscreen.
