President Trump is back and better than ever! The 45th and now 47th President has been busy in his first few weeks of taking office, enacting the sort of sweeping changes he promised on the campaign trail, using the slogan, “Promises made, promises kept!” everytime he fulfills one. He has a clear pep in his step and has been extremely transparent in his actions as President thus far. For instance, he takes questions in the Oval Office, something we rarely saw in the Biden administration. Not only that, but he provides answers to almost all questions asked, and does so as clearly and concisely as possible.
One of the biggest successes of the second Trump administration has been the border, just like in his first term. Since President Trump took office, border encounters have dropped 55 percent. He sent 1,500 troops to the Southern border and ended “catch-and-release,” ensuring that no illegal immigrant apprehended by the Customs and Borders Patrol (CBP) or the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is released. Not only has Trump taken action on the border, but President Sheinbaum of Mexico has as well. She deployed 10,000 troops to assist at the border in exchange for pausing tariffs on Mexican goods entering the United States. In a similar fashion, Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada has also offered help at the Northern border in exchange for tariffs to be paused like Mexico’s.
President Trump and his “border czar” Tom Homan have made deporting illegal immigrants a top priority. Many of these people being deported right now are extreme criminals and gang members that have committed atrocities such as murder, rape, and robbery. Trump has also had to threaten Colombia with tariffs and Venezuela by sending an envoy so they will accept their citizens back that came to the US illegally. Around 900 to 1300 illegal immigrants are being sent back daily in targeted raids for migrant criminals.
Trump has also begun work on improving the federal government itself. He has forced people to come back to working in-person, a necessity for so many jobs that really need to have people communicating with each other face to face. Furthermore, Trump is returning back to merit-based hiring and removing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. This means that the most qualified people get the job without question. He also signed an executive order to stop the weaponization of government, so that presidential administrations aren’t able to attack and potentially jail their political opponents.
Energy has also been a huge priority for the current administration. Within his first weeks in office, Trump signed orders to unleash the oil we have directly under our feet, expanding offshore drilling and allowing for more exploration of energy sources in the regions of rural Alaska. With more energy being produced, the price for gas and electricity will gradually decrease, improving the economic situation of the hardworking American people.
In addition, the President reversed many orders and laws signed by the Biden administration by significantly increasing electric vehicles production, withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, calling it a “ripoff” and a waste of money, banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sporting events, and more than sixty other initiatives.
At the end of the day, President Trump is working to give the people what they want, what they voted for—change. These first few weeks have been the busiest and most successful of a President in modern history. But there is still so much work to be done. Overall, I believe that these next four years of President Donald J. Trump will be the best of modern United States history!
