From girls tennis winning states to the boys XC team winning the Central League Championship, the fall sports season was nothing short of success. There were note-worthy moments across the board, however, one of the most monumental victories came from the girls water polo team in their game against Hazelton. This was just the girls’ second year having their own team, and captainPenny Cohen ’25 emphasizes the win saying, “We won 14-5, and it was one of the most significant times where we all played with a ton of confidence and enthusiasm.” Their game against Hazelton and overall incredible season marks the progress the team has made in a short time.
Another huge victory for LM was the girls tennis team against Council Rock South 3-0 in the PIAA State Finals. The girls team proved their spot in the final with their undefeated season, going 23-0. Jasmine Taylor ’28 at first singles, Shaila Anolik ’27 at third singles, and Cami Cohen ’27 and Claire Minerva ’28 at first doubles, won the title for the team in their first State team Championship appearance since 2007. Senior captain Katie Haves ’25 commented on the importance of this season saying, “Leading this incredible group of girls at States was a privilege, and I couldn’t be prouder of each one of them […] Winning for the first time since 2005 is truly special, and I can’t wait to see what this team will accomplish in the future.” The girls tennis team’s win over Council Rock South highlights all their hard work this season.
Both boys and girls soccer teams saw success this fall sport season. The boys finished their season 15-5-1, making it to the second round of Districts before falling to Neshaminy after a hard battle ending in PKs. Captain Beckett Fields ’25 said this about this year’s season, “Although our season was cut short by a tough loss in districts, I’m proud of what we accomplished during the regular season and I hope the team will come back stronger next year”. With Caden Arnold ’27 and Ben Bradway ’27 receiving All Central League first team and second team respectively, the team’s future is left in good hands. LM Girls soccer continues to write history and is not finished yet. After coming in second at Districts finals against CB east, the Aces are now competing in States. Last year, the team made it to State Quarterfinals, the furthest the team had ever gone. Captain Carolyn Kelly ’25 says, “We’re really proud of how far we’ve come this season but we’re not done yet”. Watch out for the girls as they continue their postseason run in States.
This past weekend was the infamous LM v. Radnor football game. Unfortunately, the Aces lost to the Raptors 21-42. With a record of 1-10, the team is looking to rebuild and regroup for next year. Their one win came against Conestoga in a thriller game of 40-38.
The girls field hockey team has plenty to be proud of this fall season, with great wins against Lower Morland, Upper Darby, and Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic. The team’s supportive culture is what makes the girls so close: they play for each other. Emma Maloney ’25 says the team lives by this quote, “Surround yourself with five lazy people, you’ll be the sixth.”
The golf team found success with one of the best seasons they’ve had in recent years. Henry Kestenbaum ’25 says, “This season was super fun. We were able to win a lot more matches than we have before in previous years, and Seji Sako ’26 has a chance to become a senior star next season.” The achievements of Sako and the team point to a bright future for the aces golf team.
The girls volleyball team also had many accomplishments this fall. With amazing wins against Radnor, Springfield, Palumbo, and Ridley, the girls have much to be proud of. Also, Bella Raur ’25 earned All Central League second team honors, and Sophia Gugliemo ’26, Nora Prince ’26, Josephine Huh ’27, and Crista McMillan ’27 got All Central League honorable mentions.
Both the boys and girls XC team have a lot to celebrate about this fall season. The boys won their 7th Central League title, with three individual medals from Nick Mazzeo ’26, Alex Mazzeo ’26, and Dylan Leone ’25. At Districts, the Mazzeo brothers continued their domination with Nick placing 1st and Alex placing 6th. At States, Nick placed 2nd and Alex placed 32nd on a hard course in Hershey. Look out for more amazing performances from them and the entire XC team in winter and spring track. The girls XC team also had a great season, placing 6th at Central League Championships. Their top performers at Central League Championships were Paige Evans ’27 placing 29th, Anabelle Lewis placing 30th ’27 and Emma Richman ’28 placing 31st.
A season full of titles, awards and recognitions, every LM fall sport has something to be proud of. Many of these athletes will return to competing in winter and spring sports, so don’t stop showing out to games and supporting them. With so much accomplished, there are so many more achievements to be won in these coming seasons.
